Friday brought the Justice Tonight Hillsborough benefit tour to The Ritz, the nod had been given and this wasn't to be missed. The Farm, Pete Wylie and the ever dapper Mick Jones played a blinding Clash heavy set and the encore brought surprise special guests John Squire and Ian Brown together on stage for the first time in over fifteen years.
Initially I don't think the crowd could quite believe who had just walked onto the dark stage unannounced but when Elizabeth My Dear struck up the roof nearly came off. This was quickly followed by Bankrobber and Armagideon Time with all the nights artists involved, during which Mick and John looked to be in a Deliverance style, Dueling Banjos stand off , an amazing and somewhat emotional night .
The night then quickly got messy and I spent several hours putting the world right with Mr Jones and Peter Hooton before blagging a lift home in time for daybreak. John Robb has a more in depth tour diary at Louder Than War. Still a number of dates on this to go and special guests at most and just in case you've forgotten, Don't Buy The Sun.
